In November, 2002, dliflc.org was established by a group of Founding Members to serve as an online 'homebase' community for Alumni of the Defense Language Institute, any incarnation.
The mission and goals of the independent DLI Alumni & Friends Community (DLIAFC) are:
- To collect and preserve the oral histories, anecdotes, and digitized multimedia artifacts (audio, movie clips) of DLI Alumni while at DLI and later in the field. One goal of DLIAFC is the publication of anecdotes & oral histories on a multimedia CD.
- To act as a proponent of the Defense Language Institute as an educational institution and to support the greater DLIFLC community.
- To collect and distribute information about DLIFLC Alumni affairs.
- To form a searchable central registry of DLI Alumni
- And to have some fun!
While emphasizing DLI Alumni, the DLI Alumni & Friends Community is open to all, with some sections restricted to registered Members-Only.
One current project is a screenplay about Berlin 'Monterey Marys' by DLI Alumus and professional wordsmith, Charles Deemer.
